A decision has been reached to close all operations at Washington Cold Storage.
After the August fire that destroyed our Puyallup facility and the purchase of our Kent facility by Sound Transit, the decision was made to notify our employees and customers that the company would close down at the end of the year.
Cold storage services have continued at our Kent freezer facility, but customers with goods in this facility were notified on Oct. 1 that services would be discontinued and storage agreements would be terminated at the end of December. Sound Transit plans to use our Kent space as the location of a parking garage for the nearby light rail station.
Our Kent facility will stop receiving goods for storage in November, and customers will have the remainder of the year to remove their goods. Because Dec. 31 is a holiday, the last day of operations will be Dec. 30.
We want to thank our customers for choosing us and our employees for their years of work. It truly has been a great 30-year run, and we are grateful to everyone who has been part of it.
